Looking for thoughts on awarding 50 Miler for a summer camp paddle event. Program has scouts paddle for 70 miles over 4 days, planned by camp staff. I’m unaware if any service was done.
@DavidKearney - my only advice is to look at the application and the requirements listed and if they satisfied the requirements as written then sure. Personally for me 50 miles of anything would require medical staff close at hand
just ask the participants of that activity if they did any service during the trip. Remember a scout is Trustworthy.
Here is a link to the requirements and application form:
If the scouts are unable to complete a service project on the outing, according to the application, they can do one in their home area.
“During the time on the trail or waterway, complete a minimum of
10 hours each of group work on projects to improve the trail,
springs, campsite, portage, or area. If, after checking with
recognized authorities, it is not possible to complete 10 hours each
of group work on the trail, a similar project may be done in the
unit’s home area.”
