How can I assign a merit badge counselor from another state over 50 miles?

If you know the name or e-mail address of the MBC, go to the Scout’s connection page, click +Add then enter the name or e-mail address in the search field. Select the MBC from the results, click Merit Badge Counselor for the connection type, select the Merit Badge then click Save.
If you do not know the name of the MBC and are trying to search, if they are out of council, their council must have uploaded its MBC list to Scoutbook and the MBC must have set Listing Preference to Worldwide. In that case, the MBC search function would find them.
