Calendar .ics import PLEASE

I know this has been brought up before but with little traction so I am just going to continue beating this drum…

Last year we transitioned away from scoutbook because the calendar and messaging features were just too cumbersome and hard to use. But then having to have people in two different systems (one for advancement and one for calendar/communication) also proved difficult. I’d like to try scoutbook again, but adding events to the calendar is a major pain. We have a lovely existing calendar in ical and google. Not being able to add it simply to scoutbook is a major obstacle. Please please please add this feature…

@AlexisMarkowski - I really doubt that this is something that would happen as the fields in the scoutbook calendar are not shown in other calendar apps. Just the unit/sub-unit designation alone along with invitees that can vary depending upon the event.

Do what Spond does with their season planner; Import the basics, and then add details and settings as needed.

(After our pack annual planning spreadsheet is filled out, it has a tab that generates the iCalendar data. I copy that data into a text file and import it to Spond’s season planner. )

The Scoutbook calendar is designed to be the source. We have been told previously there are no plans to spend development resources ($) to add ics import capability.

What a about a simple CSV/XLSX import like the extension offered? It’s mind boggling that we have to manually create each and every event. Even with repeating events available, for our unit, there’s not necessarily a consistent repeating event that works for den meetings and Pack meetings.

@Chris.Peterson - the calendar is very different from when the csv was created. I doubt time would be spent of this as well.

How many events are you talking about having to add? This should be a one time converstion from your existing calendar into Scoutbook. If you don’t want Scoutbook to be your source calendar, then don’t use the Scoutbook calendar at all.

I mean, it’s a decent number… including 3 den meetings a week. Last time I tried to do it that was a challenge because there was no “every two weeks” repeat option, has that been updated? so I was entering them all individually
