Can Users Initiate Direct Messages?

Way way off topic here…But is sending a direct message only something you can do, or is there a way we can do it. I’ve looked and can’t see a way.

Because youth have access to the forums and there is no way in Discourse to disable direct messages for individual users, it had to be disabled for everyone. This is to keep the forums in compliance with Youth Protection policies. Moderators and BSA IT staff are able to initiate direct messages. Since in many cases we cannot determine if we are communicating with a youth or adult, the moderators usually copy another moderator on each direct message.
