Comparing Troopmaster to Scoutbook Plus

The last discussion comparing troopmaster to scoutbook plus is six years old. Our troop is growing again, and the new admins have used scoutbook in the Pack, and see some advantages to it, but legacy users in the troop like TM… has anyone made the transition in the last year or so (since scoutbook plus came along) and seen a clear winner one way or the other? [ For example, one thing people seem to like in TM is that we can assign permissions pretty widely where in SB we think only key 3 are able to have full admin rights, and with 70+ scouts that’s not enough… is that still an issue? Another was that badges, miles, and service hour functionality is clunky in SB+ has that been fixed? ] Thanks!

I’m not a troopmaster user, so I can’t really comment there. However, there’s a pretty detailed summary of permissions relative to SB+ in the documents linked from the blue banner at the top of these forums.

I would also note that it has been true for many years that the Key 3 could designate 3 additional registered scouters in the unit to have Key 3 Delegate functional roles at my.scouting, that allowed access to everything that the Key 3 could do (except approving adult registrations, which was uniquely the domain of COR and COR Delegate) at my.scouting and in SB/SB+. With the changes to the granularity of the permissions, there is a lot more customization than was previously possible in classic SB or SB+, but it does require active management by the Key 3/Key 3 Delegates for permissions different from the defaults (see the linked PDF from the blue box for more details on that).
