For the Cycling merit badge, could you please break out the seven rides in requirement 2A2 separately, just like you do with Camping merit badge requirement 9B? You see, it’s common for scouts to complete this merit badge over a long period of time and this would make it helpful for us to track their rides.
The MB is programmed how the merit badge team wants it - your council would have to send in a request to that team for a change
So a simple, common-sense request like this has to be reviewed and approved by a committee. Got it.
We are just volunteers that have to follow the process as we have been told. MB changes like this need to go through the MB folks. The SUAC’s contacts are with Scouting America IT. Scouting America IT is not permitted to make unilateral changes to Merit Badge requirements. You can submit a suggestion to merit.badge@scouting.org or contact your local Council for assistance.
This is a good time to reach out to merit.bage@scouting.org they are reviewing badges now for possible changes Jan 1.
@MattWeiss - the requirements are in scoutbook exactly as they are written so breaking out the rides is a change to how it is written.
@MattWeiss something that no one has mentioned (as a can use it now without changes). Try using the comments on the requirement. Add one comment for each ride with the info. After reaching the desired number of comments, it should be easy to see that the requirement is complete.
@ZacharyMcCarty - that is a good point. That will work for any requirements where logging is needed.
