A problem with an Eagle application alerted me to the fact that Date Completed and Marked Completed are not necessarily the same thing. The attached snip shows what I am talking about. The Marked Completed field says 5/2/23, but the Date Completed, all the way to the right in blue lettering, is 4/29/23. Until this issue came up, I had never even noticed the blue lettering, let alone paid any attention to it.
This is confusing and has led to an Eagle application and award being unneccesarily delayed. Why does the unlabelled Date Completed appear all the way to the right (where, in the course of marking completed hundreds of merit badges and rank badges, I have never before noticed it), instead of underneath the word “Completed” with the other fields? And why is there a Marked Completed field at all, if it is not equivalent to Date Completed? Why would it be important for anyone to know what date a badge was marked completed?
The Mark completed date is just audit information. It tells you who marked the item complete (entered a date) and they date they did it. The only date that matters for advancement is the completion date, not the audit data.
Marked Complete is Audit Info - when the information was entered in the system - Here the Complete date of 4/29/23 (official date) was entered on 5/2/23
My point is that the layout is confusing. As I mentioned, I had never even noticed the date in blue all the way to the right of the page. I have always taken the Marked Completed date to indicate the date the badge was earned. The blue date should appear beside the word Completed, or else underneath it along with all the other dates, in order to avoid confusion.
