Dual enrolled scout

Hello,

My son dual enrolled in another Troop (103) which is located in a different council (Erie Shores). When the second council activated his registration it cause his scout account to show as opted out on scoutbook for his original Troop 538 under Michigan Crossroad Council. Now Troop 538 scoutmaster is unable to update his scoutbook. How can we update his profile so both scoutmasters can update his rank advancements. Original member ID (removed by Moderator). New member ID is (removed by Moderator).

The system as it is currently structured does not support multiple units in different councils being able to update advancement for a single scout. The scout will need to select a “primary” unit to enter and track advancement, and the unit leadership will need to coordinate with one another.

One approach to this that I’ve seen is scanning and posting of signed-off handbook pages as images in SB+ comments. That way, the “tracking” unit can review those and then approve in SB+ the requirements that have been signed-off by the other unit. Another approach I’ve seen is having a “floating” copy of the Scouts BSA Advancement report for the scout and each unit updates their copy based on what’s been signed-off by the other unit, then the “tracking” unit enters and approves the advancement in SB+. Likely, the unit leadership will likely have opinions on how they want to handle that end of things, and it will require some legwork on the part of the scout to get an agreement on that.

My recollection is that once a “primary” unit is selected, the SUAC volunteers can create a second SB+ account for the scout attached to the “secondary” number, which would then permit the scout to appear in the roster for both units.

@RebekahLilje Because the troops are in different councils, you will need to let us know which troop/council you want to be able to update your Scout’s advancements. We will create a second Scoutbook account for the other (secondary) council, so that your Scout shows up on the roster there.

I would like 538 to be his primary troop. It is his home troop which he is more active in.

@RebekahLilje I have switched the Scout back to Michigan Crossroads Council in Scoutbook. Please wait for the overnight sync to run and check tomorrow.

I have also requested that a new Scoutbook account be created for the Scout in Erie Shores.
