Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info â Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
Hello. We have two Scouts, from two different familes, that when you print out the ESRA from Scoutbook, in the Requirement 2 area, a Non-parent is being shown. In this case it is the Scoutmaster.
A review of the records for these two scouts does show the correct parent/guardian associated with the youth.
@RobertDavidson5 - take a look at the connections on the scout and see if the scoutmaster has the parent check box selected. And or/ if the actual parents have the parent check box selected.
In both cases the SM has the Parent/Guardian check box check on his connections to the Scouts. Only the SM or your Council can fix this.
In looking at the SMâs connections, he is connected to several Scouts with the Parent/Guardian box checked. The Scoutâs initials are CC, MC, AG, JH, SM and MWL.
Hello Stephen,
Thank you. I have verified that in both cases, the person being shown does not have the "parent/guardianâ option selected and the real parents and/or guardian do have the option selected.
Hi Ed,
Thank you very much. Would I be able to see this via the SB dashboard under the Scouts connection? âJHâ is the only Scout he should be associated with.
What is interesting is I checked MWL and she is showing a totally different adult as the âparentâ in Requirement 2
Starting from scratch, if you are a Scoutbook Unit Admin/Key 3/Key 3 Delegate, I would go to the SMâs Connections page from the troop roster (My Dashboard â Administration â My Units â Troop XYZ â Troop Roster â SM â SMâs Connections
and trawl through the scouts to see who does/doesnât have a parent/guardian connection.
That said, since @edavignon already gave you a list, you can sit down with the SM and walk them through the process of disconnecting as Parent/Guardian from these scouts. Thereâs no way for anyone other than the mis-connected individual or your council staff to do this. To disconnect, they simply uncheck the Parent/Guardian box in their connection to the scout.
That said, a discussion is probably in order with the SM to figure out why they were connected. As SM, they should automatically be connecting to the scouts in the troop with Full Control, and shouldnât need the parent/guardian connection except with their own scout.
ETA: Jenniferâs approach to identifying erroneous parent/guardian connections is way more efficient than mine. Do it that way. :^)
I donât know how the Eagle Application decides which parent to list on the app.
Go to each Scoutâs connection page, search for Parent. You should find both the actual parent(s) and the SM. The SM needs to go to his connection for the Scoutâs, uncheck the Parent/Guardian check box and click Update.
