Does anyone know if there are any extensions being given due to the pandemic to complete their rank up?
The Pack Committee always has the option to grant time extensions on an individual basis:
BSA Guide to Advancement section 126.96.36.199 “Do Your Best”
In the same spirit as “Do Your Best,” if a Cub Scout is close to earning a badge of rank when it is time to transition to a new den, the pack committee, in consultation with the den leader and the Cub Scout’s parent or guardian, may allow a few weeks to complete the badge before going on to the next rank. Earning it will give the youth added incentive to continue in Scouting and carry on and tackle the next rank.
But there are also some advancement modifications due to COVID-19 :
BSA COVID-19 FAQ
Advancement — Cub Scouts
Q: If my den is behind in advancement due to COVID-19, can my Cub Scout continue to work on advancement through the summer?
Yes. Cub Scouts may continue to work on their current den’s advancement. During this pandemic period, it is at the discretion of the den to decide the best course of action for how long to extend continuation of advancement. We want to ensure that the pandemic does not create an obstacle to youth advancement, that Cub Scouts families continue to have a positive experience, and that the standard for Cub Scout Advancement continues to be “Do Your Best.” We will continue to monitor the situation and communicate when this temporary measure expires and there is a return to the standard rules for Cub Scout advancement.
In a recent episode of Cub Chat Live, national director of Cub Scouting, Anthony Berger, clarified that although it is usually not permitted for a Cuib Scout to work on two ranks at once, this is permitted under the COVID rules. For instance, if a current Tiger attends day camp in July and has not yet earned the Tiger rank, s/he may work on both Tiger and Wolf adventures.
