Is there a secret to changing a scouts name in scout book? I am a key 3 (Scoutmaster) and when I go to a scout’s profile his name is in grey boxes. I can edit everything else with out any problems just not his name.

You can’t edit the scouts’ names. I believe your registrar can correct the name.

Adding to Charlie’s answer, the council registrar can change the name in the official roster on My.Scouting. The change then pushes to Scoutbook overnight, typically in one day, but sometimes two.
The official registration should be the scout’s legal name. Scoutbook has a nickname field for scouts that prefer something different.
