Giving Grandparent parent level access to Cub in Scoutbook Plus

I have a grandparent who is more active in a Cub’s Scouting activities than his parents, but I cannot find a way to give him access to Scoutbook plus. He has a member ID as his son is in a Scouts BSA troop. He is not registered as an adult (still working on that), but I would like to allow him to view his grandson’s progress, and mark off activities, that I as Cubmaster, want the Cubs to do at home.

Scoutbook plus only allows connections with Parent/Legal Guardians.
Scoutbook (legacy) is even more restrictive, and only allows adults who are registered with the unit to have connections.

Any advise or ways to set this up?

@CharlesHoffman - first thing is that you should not be using legacy scoutbook except for mbc work or payment logs (that will migrate soon) for relationship adds. I gather you tried to add this grand parent using the member id in scoutbook plus?

Yes. I tried Scourbook Plus first.
When I indicated that he was the grandfather, the system complained thst only a parent /guardian could be added.

I selected the Cub in the roster. Then in the left hand column clicked the “+” in the Relationships section. Selected the grandparent via id, name, dob, then after he was selected, chose the relationship of grandparent.

And think the bottom Guardian checkbox would do it - it does make them a Guardian of the Scout - there is no lower family level anymore

I have held off doing that as the grandfather is neither the parent nor legal guardian. He is a grandfather. That trustworthy thing. . . :smile:

@CharlesHoffman

There is a change in the works to allow relationships that are not guardians. I can’t say when this work will be completed.

Thank you @edavignon, It would be nice if the unit leaders could control this like other permissions.
