Green stopwatch logo

I see there is a green stopwatch logo by our members names in the troop roster. What does the logo mean?

Mouse over it. It says that the account will be dwindled in 30 days or something like that. I can’t mouse over it on my phone. Basically, your unit’s charter will be beyond the 2 month grace period.

Last year, I believe they extended the grace period. It will be interesting to see if they will do the same this year.

There are no plans for an extension this year per our most recent meeting.

So what happens when the clock runs out and “registration expires?”

I ask because we submitted recharter on Dec 3 and it is still not posted/complete.

After 60 days all of the Scouts and leaders are removed from the unit in Scoutbook, Internet Advancement, etc. Their data is still in the system, just not accessible.

Thanks. That’s distressing, especially since we we were first unit in our council to submit recharter.

Any chances for extension for units that are chartered with UMC? Issues with that are what seems to be holding up our recharter.

I think UMCs are extended to 3/31

That would be helpful, but the green clock logo says our registration ends in 28 days, looking like grace period only through this month.

Talk with your registar or Commissioner. In the Commissioner tools I can see in my district the UMC units that got extended.

How can one prevent that from happening? I have submitted our Pack recharter and now have 25 days +/- a day or so. My Cubmaster was told that our ReCharter is on hold. It’s a complicated mess, but in order to get the recharter submitted, I used the Charter Partner that we were associated with in August 2021. We were told by our former DE that we could/should wait until recharter to change our Chartering Organization and then after our DE left Scouting, the deal with the UMC’s came up. My thought was that we would recharter with our old Partner and ask them to hold our charter until we could clear things up and get approval from the UMC that initially agreed to charter us but then backed out.

Does the Council have the ability to fix this issue, or can they extend your unit beyond the date on the green stopwatch logo?

The only way the Council can “fix” the issue is to finalize processing the charter. The BSA currently has not told the SUAC of any plans to extend the recharter grace period beyond the current 60 days.

Our pack & troop are also “on hold” and per our council DFS this is a national issue. I can’t tranfer scouts in or out until this is resolved. I noticed there was problem taking our ACH payment of $4100+, we just were not rechartered. I wish our council hadn’t forced us to change to a 31 Dec recharter date. What is the plan if none of our council recharters, and I assume everyone elses, don’t get completed as of 1 March?

This is the email units here just got from our DFS. It does not sound very promising and implies this is totally a national problem and has nothing to do with the UMC.

Hello Scouters,

As you all know, 2022 has been the first year in a new recharter system. An issue has been identified with the payment process when paying directly to the National Office. We have been assured that the issue will be resolved before the end of the month, but we would like to encourage all units that have not yet made a payment choice to select Pay at Council (example below) on the final screen before clicking “Pay and Post Renewal.”

When paying to the Middle Tennessee Council, your unit will not be subject to the payment issue and we will send your payment directly onto the National organization in our normal payment route. There are a few methods in which you are able to pay the Middle Tennessee Council:

You are able to mail or deliver a check or credit card payment directly to the office.
You also have the option of calling with payment by Credit Card Monday – Friday from 8:30am to 5pm.
You are able to pay by our online website at https://www.mtcbsa.org/onlinepayment.

Hopefully this helps avoid any additional delays in the processing of you unit’s charter for the 2022 Scouting year. Thank you for all you do for the youth of your communities,

So if after 60 days all leaders and scouts are removed from the unit in Scoutbook, and their data is not accessible, will parents still have access to their Scouts account in the my.scouting app???

Their recharter still has to post. Most of the units in my district that have a UMC CO have posted. The only thing different about them is the CO didn’t sign the Annual Charter Agreement. Their recharter still completed in Internet Recharter 2.0, was paid and posted by our council.

If the 60 day grace period is not extended, parents will not be able to mark advancement in the app, either, as membership is critical to determine which awards scouts are eligible for.

We have been told that we will have to keep up with the advancements on paper after our 60 days is up on March 1st. How will units know what adventures for Cub Scouts and what MB’s and rank advancements for Scouts BSA are in progress?

Have you completed your recharter or is there some reason you haven’t?

Our registrar is backed up. Our district has 8 posted, 6 initiated, 3 waiting COR signature, and 44 on hold. Not many working days left to process those.
