How to Enable Access to Assign Scouts to Activities

@SusanKuchta you have the Activity Permission for T2019. Can you do activities for that troop?

Hi @DonovanMcNeil Yes I am now able to T2019. Can you please look at T416 and see if I can have the same activity permission with them? Thank you!

@SusanKuchta you do not - that is the simple reason why it does not work. You can go to SB+ > your profile > and on the left side see the permissions you have. That unit would need to extend activity permissions to you for you to have them.

@DonovanMcNeil Thank you. Do you know why the permissions changed? I have had them consistently and then the last few months it gets removed, the Key 3 add back for me, then removed again, etc. Is there a way to see the history and why it keeps changing?

This all changed in November - A major focus of the migration to Scoutbook Plus is to have positions mirror the positions shown in My.Scouting to ensure positions were reflected accurately in both platforms. The main purpose it to honor the guidance of our charter organizations and the positions they approve. Therefore, Scoutbook Plus does not use Legacy Scoutbook positions. Registered positions are used to provide base permissions. Some additional permissions can be added by the unit, however, there are restrictions on what can be given. See the updated Scoutbook_Permissions.pdf and the Scoutbook Plus permissions video for more details.

Donovan, just wanted to let you know that Valerie is able to add scouts to activities without key-3 delegate access. Not sure exactly what happened, but we ended up in a good place. Thanks for your help.

@DonovanMcNeil a Key 3 is telling me that it is checked for me in scout book plus for 416. I looked at the permissions for both units in my profile and the 416 profile does not even list “activities” as a category, let alone a permission. Is there a way for this to be looked into and added another way? or does it take time to load?

@SusanKuchta the Key 3 is wrong - you do not have the permission - it has been looked at - you saw yourself you do not have it - it does not say Activities for you to keep it clean as it is NULL.

@SusanKuchta- if they check the boxes and do not click apply then you do not get the permission

They clicked apply. Also, it showed me listed as having it when they went in to look already so they unclicked it, reclicked, and apply. This has been a back and forth issue so I do think it is something in the system. Is there another way?

If they just did it now it might take 24 hours to come into play

Ok. This was fixed in December and worked. Then went away. She fixed both yesterday and the 2019 now is working but the 416 is not. She just went in again and unclicked, reclicked, apply. I have a screenshot I can email you (it is not letting me attach here)

Toggling the state back and forth may be impacting the system’s ability to propagate the permissions. Since 416 was just redone, as Donovan suggested, let it percolate overnight, so it can propagate out to all of the various systems. Then, if it’s still not showing up (either on your end or where Donovan can see in the back-end), it might be indicating some other issue.

They need to be the activity chair I believe. That is how I am listed and I create and add scouts to activites, etc

@DanicaPedicone I don’t see a role called Activity Chair. Are you referring to Unit Advancement Chair? Or maybe I’m missing something
.

To give permissions for Activities - you simply give the Activities permission (singular)

I wasn’t sure the exact name, but it’s not advancment, that is for ranks, merit badges, and awards.

Danica, where are you finding the calendar editor on Scoutbook plus?

@ChristopherLai it is for Key3 > Unit Page > Left Grey Bar > Permission Manager
