Which troop leaders have the Advancement Edit Permissions in SB? In the legacy app, a registered Committee Member was able to search for MB counselors. This helps delegate tasks within our troop.
@ShriGadiraju - the permissions are added by the unit key 3 - here is the related file
I have permission to view the list, but now that it is in SB+ I can no longer assign MB counselors, it says I do not have permission to access the API. I could do this in Scoutbook. Not sure why.
@JASONCANNON the Assign is currently broken and it seems only Key3 can do it. Scouting America IT does not release schedules. Watch the Scoutbook - Scoutbook Plus Change Log - Scouting Forums for an announcement of the fix.
Okay, thank you. Glad it isn’t just me!
Why in the world would “Search by Name” not have been in the initial implementation? This is critical functionality that shouldn’t be in any “backlog”…it should work
Everything from the old system should have been coded into the new system…with improvements.
Not major functionality taken away. This whole transition has just been a mess.
If you already know the MBC you want to assign to the Scout, you can do so by going to the Scout’s MB page and clicking the Assign Counselor button. On that page you can search by name.
As we stated before, the ability to search by name from the MB Counselors page is coming. Watch Scoutbook - Scoutbook Plus Change Log - Scouting Forums for an announcement of a fix.
My MB counselors option has disappeared. Can you advise why?
Will the Mobile version have the contact information added to the search results like the desktop version? At our meetings the SM/ASMs use their phones and do not have a laptop and it is preventing them from being able to access the MBC’s contact information to give to the scout until someone logs into a desktop to retrieve that information.
@TWms not sure I understand what you are looking for. You are not an MBC under this log in. As a Troop Committee member MBC management is outside of your permissions and work.
Please explain more so I understand.
@DonovanMcNeil So, I am not permitted to search for MBCs?
@AndrewPlatte I believe there is a backlog story on this - I will check
@TWms as you do not have the MBC List/Search Permission - No you do not have access to the MBC List. If Key3 want you to have that permission they can assign the permission.
I don’t have that. I’m a scoutmaster, merit badge counselor, and unit commissioner and do not have the MB counselor tab.
@MarshaPierce - are you certain the you have the Scoutmaster role selected in the upper right ? I think you do not
The MB Counselors page is no longer visible under my account. It was previously there in SB+ but disappeared after the fix for the “search outside the US” was completed. Is this a software glitch, or should I circle back with my unit’s Key3 ? I am the troop’s MBC Coordinator. Thanks.
@LiliShiau MBC Coordinator is not a real Scouting position. Your Key 3 needs to add permissions to your account.
A major focus of the migration to Scoutbook Plus is to have positions mirror the positions shown in My.Scouting to ensure positions were reflected accurately in both platforms. The main purpose it to honor the guidance of our charter organizations and the positions they approve. Therefore, Scoutbook Plus does not use Legacy Scoutbook positions. Registered positions are used to provide base permissions. Some additional permissions can be added by the unit, however, there are restrictions on what can be given. See the updated Scoutbook_Permissions.pdf and the Scoutbook Plus permissions video for more details. Just as permissions are now limited - so is report access - https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/scoutbook/Report-Permission-Access.pdf
Thanks for the quick response.
