Mass Import Function for Activity Logs (Camping, Hiking, Service)

To the Scoutbook Plus Development Team,

Our unit is requesting the ability to import Activity Logs (camping nights, hiking miles, and service hours) via CSV or third-party software export.

The Problem:
Currently, we utilize a different troop management system than Scoutbook Plus. To record these activities again in Scoutbook Plus is a significant administrative burden for units with large rosters. For example, a single weekend campout requires manually selecting 30+ Scouts from a roster and individually verifying their participation in the log.

The Impact:

  • Redundancy: Many units already maintain these logs in third-party tools or spreadsheets. Requiring manual re-entry in Scoutbook Plus leads to data entry errors and outdated records.

  • Volunteer Burnout: The lack of an import tool discourages unit leaders from keeping the Internet Advancement dashboard updated, which affects council-level reporting.

  • Missing Program Data for Councils: Councils use this data to judge the effect of their programs. Missing this data gives councils an incomplete picture of what is happening in their districts and troops.

Requested Solution:
A CSV import tool similar to the one already available for Advancement and Roster data. This would allow units to upload their activities once and have them reflect immediately in Scoutbook Plus.

Thank you for considering this addition to make the platform more efficient for volunteers.

@Greg_Root- there is no roster import and beyond that the dev team is not on the forums.

@Greg_Root

If you are maintaining activity logs in a 3rd party tool, why do you need them in Scoutbook Plus? Are you migrating your tracking to Scoutbook Plus?

There is no Scouting America requirement to track activities in Scoutbook Plus. The reason advancement can be imported from a 3rd party tool is because Scoutbook Plus is the advancement database for Scouting America so the advancement needs to be there for things like Eagle verification.
