Is it safe to assume that a MBC who has been invited to connect with a scout for a particular MB will only have permission to approve requirements for that MB and the overall MB?
yes if the are connected as MBC only (not another leader in unit) then yes
They are another leader in our troop but not with edit advancement permission. Does that matter?
no - depending on existing connections to scout, they may just have a different visual experience than just an MBC is all
It would depend on how they are connected to the Scout in Scoutbook. If they are connected only as a MBC for that merit badge, then they should only need View Profile permissions to the Scout in order to approve that particular merit badge.
