Member History

We have several scouts whos BSA start date did not generated in scoutbook plus for whatever reasons.

Previously we were able to see a scouts member history which included previous patrols and units so key three could easily look up when they join scouts BSA, which is needed for the Eagle application. After one if the updates this information seems to be unavailable. Is this something we can get back?

@KatherynBurgess - the date joined scouts BSA was never auto populated.

The scouts bsa history report is available in reports and the scout profile page

@KatherynBurgess If this is their first and only troop, and if they registered online to join the troop, then the troop can use the Application Manager at my.Scouting to get the information. On the Application Manager, use the filter icon (looks kind of like a funnel), select “Closed” and “Completed”, and change the “From Date” so that it’s a date before the Scout(s) joined the troop. There you can download the application and see the date submitted.

Another option is to use the Reports menu on the Application Manager or the Roster at my.Scouting. Select the “RECORD OF CHANGE” report. Use the “Filter” to set the “Start Date”. Again, this will only give the start date with your unit. So, if they came from another troop or another council, it would not have that information.

Another option is to use a “Unit Advancement Details” report available on the Roster in my.Scouting. On the Roster, select a Scout, then select:

Print → Unit Advancement Details

The positions in that report currently reflect the registrations in units in that council, so they all assume a start date on the 1st day of the month.

If the Scout was not in Cub Scouts, the Date Joined is not critical. It just needs to be before the first campout. I typically use the Scout Rank date or date the first requirement was completed if I do not know the actual date. For a former Cub Scout, the date needs to be after the last Cub Scout activity. This is because the date joined is used to filter out Cub Scout activities, especially camping, so that the Order of the Arrow Eligibility Report is correct.

The reason the date is not filled in automatically is Scouting America uses the first of the month when the Scout joins, even if the actual date is the last day of the month. This can cause issues with the OA eligibility report and other metrics.
