- “Approved” vs "Awarded’: Is the only difference between them whether the MB has been recognized at a Court of Honor? If so, is the official completion date the date MB is approved by the scout master or advancement chair, rather than the date it is awarded?
- Who can finally leader-approve a MB? Scout master, Advancement Chair, AND Committee chair?
- “Mark as counselor …” vs “Mark as …” The first is straightforward that the completion is approved by the counselor. Who else can “Mark as approved/recorded?” SM, parents, …etc? Is it technically the same as approved by the counselor in terms of final completion of the MB?
- The official completion date is actually when it’s marked Completed, not Leader Approved. Leader Approved commits it to the database as completed and reviewed. Awarded is just a tracking tool to know whether it still needs purchasing and presentation to the scout.
- Any of the Key 3 or Key 3 Delegates can mark things Leader Approved. The Key 3 can also delegate this using the permissions structure in SB+. Only a connected counselor can mark a MB Counselor Approved.
- “Complete” can be marked by the scout, a parent or any connected scout/scouter with the relevant advancement permissions. This is different from “Approved” which can only be marked by the scouters as described above. The intent of the “Approved” state, in the absence of a “Counselor Approved” mark is to handle offline processes (e.g. physical blue cards or summer camps without import files) so the the relevant scouter can commit to the database the completion that was tracked outside of SB+. A registered scouter can also serve as a MBC, but can not be a substitute for one unless also so registered. Did that last part make sense, or wax it just word soup?
