I am trying to search for Reading Merit badge counselors is my area. When I logon to Scoutbook plus, select MB counselors from the left hand menu, I arrive at the counselor search page. The Council/District box is a required field. I am not able to type in the field. The only option in the dropdown menu is “Search outside US.” Our Troop is located in California. When I try to search with Council/District box empty, I get the following error “Required if input is empty.” Please help!

I suspect the issue is you do not have Advancement permissions. Have a Key 3 member go to Permissions Manager in Scoutbook Plus and add the Advancement and MBC search Permissions.
You have the correct permissions. Do you have anything in the dropdown for Council/District?
I am the unit advancement chair; however, I can not really do anything, including the contact information for the MBC. What do I need to have done for access to this?

Yes I did. I also logged out, logged in again and nothing. I also switched browsers and same issue.
No I don’t get anything to be able to type in and so it auto-fills in the outside United States.

So now with the bug fix, I don’t have the MB Counselor search link at all. I’ve always had it in Scoutbook Legacy, including this year. I am a multi-year committee member and new merit badge counselor so it is helpful for me to connect Scouts in our troop for badges I don’t counsel as well as contact other seasoned MBC to pick their brains for the ones that I counsel.
By default, Committee Members do not have permission to search the MB Counselor List.
A major focus of the migration to Scoutbook Plus is to have positions mirror the positions shown in My.Scouting to ensure positions were reflected accurately in both platforms. The main purpose it to honor the guidance of our charter organizations and the positions they approve. Therefore, Scoutbook Plus does not use Legacy Scoutbook positions. Registered positions are used to provide base permissions. Some additional permissions can be added by the unit, however, there are restrictions on what can be given. I am the district’s Merit Badge Dean, Key 3 Delegate at District Level and District Member at Large. I am a Troop Committee Chair. Are saying me not being able to access the Merit Badge Counselor lists is not a bug, but a feature? It is making things impossible to properly do my job.
Is there a work around? Please advise.
