Merit Badge - Print Blue Cards

The Print Blue Card report in both Scoutbook or Scoutbook Plus is no longer reporting the current status.

I updated the Archery MB for G.B. (T126/Meridian) on Jan 10, 2026 to reflect her completion of requirement 5A3. When I request the Print Blue Card the update is missing.

I’ve tried this in both Scoutbook and Scoutbook Plus and the result is the same.

@SusanOki- did you approve the completion in addition to noting it completed

Are you the Scout’s assigned MBC for Archery?

Yes, I approved the addition and noted it complete. I’m an ASM in the Troop and have access to all youth. I’m also an Archery MBC …

Jennifer: I’m not this scout’s assigned MBC but as noted in my reply to Stephen, I’m an ASM in the Troop and have access to all youth. I’m also an Archery MBC …

It looks like you approved the requirements as an adult leader, not as the MBC. It makes a difference as to what will show on the blue cards.

I updated the entry via the MBC link (For Requirements Entry by Merit Badge Counselors, click here.) …

@SusanOki The assigned MBC for the Archery merit badge for Scout G.B. is another adult with initials T.G. If you are supposed to be the assigned MBC for this merit badge, you will need to:

  1. Go to the [Scout]'s Connections page in Scoutbook (legacy).
  2. Remove T.G. as the MBC for Archery.
  3. Add yourself as the MBC for Archery.
  4. Unapprove the individual requirement as an adult leader.
  5. Approve the individual requirement as the MBC.

When you are the assigned MBC to a Scout for a particular merit badge in Scoutbook (legacy), you should be able to use the “My Merit Badge Counseling” tools on the My Dashboard page:

So, the key here is that I have to be the MBC for the individual to produce Blue Cards. Is this true for the Troop Admin also?

If you are not connected to the Scout in Scoutbook (legacy) as the assigned MBC for that particular merit badge, then if you mark items off, they won’t show up in the same way.

Even a Troop Admin would not be able to generate the Blue Cards “report” with items signed off?

@SusanOki- there no longer is a troop admin.

Sorry meant to say Unit Support; as I understand it Troop Admin transitioned to Unit Support.

@SusanOki You can still print out the blue cards, but unless you sign off as the Scout’s MBC for the assigned merit badge (Archery), then it won’t show up in the same way.

If you are supposed to be the Scout’s assigned Archery MBC, then:

Go to the [Scout]'s Connections page in Scoutbook
Disconnect the other person as the Archery MBC.
Connect yourself to the Scout as Archery MBC.
Then go back and change requirement 5A3 from being approved by you as an adult leader, to being approved by you as the Scout’s MBC for Archery.

Got it! And, tested it – and of course it works.

But we had Troop Admins that would take care of some of this for our MBC as most where NOT active in Scoutbook or Scoutbook Plus. Alas, the Troop omitted transitioning the Troop Admin to Unit Support or Sub-Support. If we establish a few people as Unit Support will the Blue Cards work without having the MBC to go back into each entry before generating Blue Cards.
