Hello,

@GeorgeRenda - this is something for the council registrar to fix via registrar tools
oh ok, how do i reach out to them?
@GeorgeRenda - go to your council web page and then look for the staff directory
You need to contact your council to fix your wife’s DOB. I’ll look at your connections soon.
@GeorgeRenda yes you are listed in relationship to your son twice - council needs to clean that up - make sure they fix it on your Scouts side also
ok I will give them a call
thank you
This is frustrating because there seems to be access for some of us to “Add Relationships” within a Child’s profile. (I am a Key 3 Delegate and have access to this feature.) I am currently wanting to connect some parents to their kids, so I see this option and try it. However, it needs someone’s complete birthday apparently, and the adult profiles only list month and date … no year. Why is this option even available if we can’t view parents complete birthday that includes their Year? I have had to reach out to our Registrar for several things lately and she is INCREDIBLE. She is so responsive and helps us with all of our issues and in a timely manner. I LOVED seeing that I have this access as it is one less thing to trouble her with. However, it seems its a pointless option since I can’t see an adults birth year to enter a connection to their child.
That usually means you have multiple accounts. If you click on each connection with your name, do they have different ID numbers? Agree with others that you need to talk to your Registrar to help correct that. Write down your different ID numbers and share those with your Registrar. I had a mom that had THREE different ID numbers … she made a new account every time she had to renew her previous YPT certs. ![]()
@NicoleSunderhaus - how are you seeing an adult profile if they are not in relationship section. You can also add them with member id as existing accounts
I can see the adult because they are in our committee. However, the other parent registered them, so that is the parent connected to the child.
@NicoleSunderhaus - have you tried by membership id
The current connected parent can add another parent and presumably knows the full DOB.
I did … its requiring all three things, ID#, last name, and DOB.
Of course that is a logical option. This is probably not something that NEEDS done though there could be some benefits, but its just something I wanted to do for fun … because I am obsessed with organizing things and wanted to tinker with adding a few relationships. I am weird and like order. ![]()
There are some things that we at the unit level can’t fix, which is why the others were referring George to the council registrar to fix things. If everything is entered properly, the unit level tools can be used to connect a parent (who is not the person using the tools). However, if there’s anything wrong with the parent or scout record in the Akela person database (not the same as what we can see from the unit side), then the tools will fail and the registrar has to be involved.
@NicoleSunderhaus - if you export the roster from my.scouting.org it will give the age of the registered adults, which when you have the month and day you can deduce the year. The old recharter printout also had the full date of birth.
Found it! Thanks!
I did have to connect my husband to our second child. We are both connected to our first, but I was the only one connected to our second child. So, I took care of that. My husband just needs to approve the connection on his end.
Of course. I am just pointing out that some of us have the permission required to do this task at the unit level and it would be much quicker than collecting all necessary info to then create an email to send to the Registrar. I have the ability to do this, they just don’t make it completely easy. I have read complaints in Facebook groups about some councils having a terrible Registrar that is not responsive or helpful. That is far from the case for us. Our Registrar is AMAZING. ![]()
@NicoleSunderhaus - the whole point of the information required to add a relationship is be completely certain that the correct person is added.
