Parents do no see messaging option in Scoutbook Plus

Several parents have noted that they cannot see a messaging option on Scoutbook Plus. The snapshot below with no messaging option is very similar to what the parent saw.

I verified this myself last night. Is there a permission I (Scoutmaster) need to set?

@JOSEPHBevivino

Parents who are not registered leaders will not be given permission to send messages via Scoutbook Plus. If you have parents who need this capability, they should be registered as leaders.

OK, so how do they send messages to the leaders? Parents have lots of non-event related questions for various leaders (and other parents) .

Also, the online guide says they can send messages. Maybe I’m confused.

@JOSEPHBevivino what online Guide? What is the URL?

Most units keep how various leaders communicate on an internal website or social media so it is easy for them to update.

We don’t have an internal website - we used Scoutbook messaging.

See below for the URL and the reference to messaging for parents.

Some of the other things you can access on Scoutbook Plus

Troop Roster

The Pack or Troop Roster will let you see the names of the Leaders and Committee members as well as a list of all the scouts in the unit (first names only).

**

Send Message**

Send Message will let you send an email to any leader or parent in the unit. It also allows the sending of texts. (to send Text messages, make sure you have verified your cell phone inside your edit profile page.)

@JOSEPHBevivino

What is the URL where you found that text?

I do not see where it says unregistered parents can send messages.

My suggestion is your unit communicate leader e-mails to families during a meeting.

it is Scoutbook Plus Tutorial for Parents

on Scouting Knowledgebase.

We had this in Scoutbook.

@JOSEPHBevivino - I have updated that page to remove the noted section.
