Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
In reviewing the list of who is invited to events (and thus who receives reminder emails), I have discovered that at least two parents are missing from the list. Both of these individuals have an account with an email address, have not opted out of messaging, and have the relationships with their Scouts recorded properly in Scoutbook Plus. They are simply missing from the list of people we can invite.
[IDs removed] (siblings) - Dad is missing, but mom is on the list
[ID removed - Mom is missing, but dad is on the list
The first listed above is a new change. Mom got added in the last 24 hours, and now dad is no longer in the list (he was at some point before) but still listed (correctly) in the Scouts’ relationships. Note that I do not think that adding the mom caused a change; I discovered this because I was verifying that she was added and the case below shows it’s not just this family affected.
The second listed above has been stable, with no changes in the last few months. Mom was included previously, and is now missing.
If I look at an event set up before they disappeared (e.g., den meeting on Oct. 12), they are still listed as invited. But if I try to edit the event, they disappear from the list. Attempting to update the Sept. 21 den meeting has removed them from the list.
This is a major problem, as we have cases where one parent does not read emails and relies on the other to monitor them, as well as divorced parents who alternate custody and need to independently be kept informed.
Replying to prevent this thread from auto-closing.
As of today, the two parents I identified previously are still missing from the list of individuals that can be added to calendar invitations, but are still showing up on events created before last week (and not edited since then). I am unable to add new parents to calendar events without these parents disappearing from them.
I am experiencing the same thing, but I will add another wrinkle. In my case, one parent of a scout that is showing as a relationship to the scout in Scoutbook+ is not getting invite messages. The scout’s other parent is not showing up as a relationship to the scout, but is getting the invites (both parents are listed as the scout’s parents in legacy Scoutbook).
If you have the member IDs for the scout and parents, @AaronTrionfi, can you please post them (no names please) and the SUAC can potentially add that data to the ticket. Something like:
@DonovanMcNeil That mom was added by the council. The unit was unable to find her through the search despite knowing her ID number, last name, and DOB. We kept getting a “Person record does not exist with the requested attributes” error, even after waiting two days, so we asked the council to add her. Now she’s there, but the dad doesn’t appear on the invite list anymore. But, as I noted above, there’s another family who also had a parent drop-off the invite list despite no changes having recently been made.
@DonovanMcNeil In that one case (the siblings), yes, that is correct. Dad was on the calendar list, but now that mom got added as a connection, dad is no longer on the calendar list.
In the other case, both parents were on the calendar list, and now only one is despite there being no changes to the connections for that family.
Mom to scout is not receiving emails or calendar invites from Scoutbook. She is associated with the scout and has not opted out of receiving emails or invites. I am also associated with the scout as his father. Mom ID 136749309. Scout ID 136749308. My primary ID 14002954.
@Butch-Moldenhauer one thing we have seen several times is the email being wrong - like having a SPACE in the database. You can try going to the email in my.scouting or SB+ profile and changing it to ANYTHING > save > wait and hour > go back and change it back to correct > give it 24 hours.
