In the Service Log if I I mark a project as Food/Shelter Insecurity and “Scouting For Food,” it them adds a required field for lbs collected. However, there is a lot of preparation that we count (collecting boxes to transport the food to the shelter, planning and logistics work, distributing the door hangers). All of these hours count in our tracking of Scouting for Food Service, but we cannot categorize them that way right now because of lbs collected field (unless we mark it as zero for the entry, which I’m sure will look odd when councils and national see all these zero lbs. collected entries.

I would just not enter the Scouting for Food for now
Also 0 (Zero) is a valid entry
I understand that, but is that the intent? When someone added this as a required element in the service log, did they understand that we in the field would be entering in entries with 0 lbs collected because they made it a required field.
All we can say at this point is that it was added - the ramifications of making it required were not thought out. Yes we do want to collect the data, but if it is future data or unknown data that is difficult. 0 (zero) allows you to enter the info and go back with poundage in the future.
