I’m in a bit of a panic and don’t know where else to go for help. Out Council office says they’ve had a ticket open to National for over a month and we’re not getting anywhere.
I have a parent on our Sea Base crew in 4 weeks who has been blocked since May 15 trying to complete registration. She’s stuck at the step of completing Safe Guarding Youth training. No matter how she hits the training, she gets an HTTP 500 error back from the server related to her SAML auth. This is not a transient error; it happens 100% of the time for this user for the last 2.5 months.
Her Member ID is 129371619
so if they simply go to my.scouting.org and click here? when they are signed in.
@JamesBolling looking at the National ticket - what I would try is for them to just go to my.scouting.org > Not sign in > on left side make a new account > this will give a new Member ID > as they are not a registered leader this should get around whatever the issue is. If it works then relationships can be cleaned up later.
That’s a good idea / I was thinking the same thing this morning, but I stopped short of having her create a whole new login and instead ended up having her apply a second time, which got us nowhere.
To answer your earlier question, @DonovanMcNeil yes.
The flow to reproduce is log into my.scouting.org, follow the links to the training, and the failure seems to happen when my.scouting.org hands off to https://training.scouting.org. Part of that transition seems to involve a SAML SSO request that fails for this user. So, for example, click “My Training” see the SYT training, and click “Take course” and then it fails the handoff from one to the other.
It does seem to be a problem with the account. It repros on both PC and iOS devices and in multiple browsers.
Yeah all the accounts look fine - they go into some tangent about the scout but I see no evidence of the scouting on the accounts.
Just do a fresh start, that will be much faster
BUT I would also say - tell them not to add it to the other login now - just make a totally new login name
so did the application end up in the units application manager for approval?
@DonovanMcNeil It did, but the system will not allow the COR to approve the application without SYT completed.
@DonovanMcNeil – Thank you for your help with this yesterday (as always). I’m trying to get specifics from the ticket about what the problem was, but yesterday National came back and said they found a problem with the username and they changed it, and to try logging into the account with the updated username. That change resolved it. If I hear back what specifically was wrong with the old username I’ll let you know!
@JamesBolling we basically know the issue - it just had limited solutions
