I hope someone in this Forum can help as I am getting ping-ponged between two Councils.
Problem: We have a youth, ID 142055553, in Troop 2025 in East Texas Area Council 585. We are trying to cross-register her (not Transfer) into Troop 54 in Sam Houston Area Council 576.. When her mom gets to the last screen in my.scouting.org, she cannot submit the form because the “Multiple From Organization” is blank instead of showing Troop 2025.
Youth’s registration in Troop 2025 is current through November 2026. Also, we have had four other youth in Troop 2025 cross-register from the same unit with no issues, so I don’t think the different council is the root . I have included screenshots below and her membership card.
I reported this issue to both Council 585 and 576 and each registrar says it is the other Council’s issue to fix. I am not making any headway. Can anyone see what is causing the youth’s “From Organization” to appear blank, when she is clearly primary registered in Troop 2025 with a valid membership?
Screenshots are the step by step view of what happens when mom tries to cross-register her daughter. The red arrow points out the suspicious blank where the Primary Organization should appear.
The Council they are currently registered in needs to open a National Membercare ticket on it.
The ETAC Council is small and I think needs some guidance on what to do. I assume I cannot open a National Membercare ticket on the youth’s behalf? Do you have any suggestions, email script, etc. that I can send the ETAC Council with the verbiage they need to give to National to make this happen?
We are trying to get this setup before summer camp and as you can imagine, it’s been a frustrating, not-customer-friendly experience.
Their registrar knows how to enter a membercare ticket - I do know that.
I would make sure that the Mom is logged in to the Mom’s my.Scouting account, and not the youth’s my.Scouting account.
Everything looks OK based on what we can see, so next step would be for ETAC to submit a help ticket on the parent’s behalf. If would be helpful to include those screenshots, so they can see exactly where the problem is happening.
Yeah the mom log in is right - but I think it would have failed first. Being from Texas, I know the ETC registrar and I just sent her the info and she is looking at it to send it in also.
Yep, I thought of that potential root cause that maybe mom is not using the right MyScouting.org account. Confirmed that she is using the correct parent account (not youth) to login and start the application process.
@ShirleyHou Could you please post the member ID numbers of the other 4 youth who have multiple registrations in the other council?
(No names, please)
Youth 1 - 142250578
Youth 2 - 142250456
Adult 1 - 142251201
Adult 2 - 142250195
These individuals used the same registration link from my.scouting.org to start the process. Here is the link that I sent all of them: My Scouting
@ShirleyHou Are you able to see and access them in Scoutbook Plus?
Yes I can for the youth that I’m having issues with cross-registering, ID 142055553. What do you want me to send you from Scoutbook Plus? If you are referring to the four other correct profiles, I’ll need some time to coordinate with the parents, but let me know what you need.
@ShirleyHou I meant those four people. Can you see and access them in Scoutbook Plus?
OK, getting that info for you right now. Just a moment.
@JenniferOlinger while I cannot pull up the other four people directly myself, I am chatting with the other troop’s CC right now and she is on standby to pull up Scoutbook Plus and provide screenshots. Please let me know what you would like to see.
@ShirleyHou I think they they all might need two Scoutbook accounts each, one for each council.
Which troop is going to be the one responsible for recording their advancements? Your troop in ETAC? Or the other troop in SHAC?
The Troop that will record their advancements is ETAC, Troop 2025
OK, I will switch them back to ETAC, and request that a new Scoutbook account be created for them in SHAC.
@JenniferOlinger The two youth and two adults who successfully cross-registered disappeared from the ETAC roster and now show up in my SHAC roster. They need to remain primary with ETAC for advancement purposes. We just need them on the SHAC roster for summer camp paperwork.
I’ve been told that members who have dual memberships that cross councils need separate Scoutbook IDs, so happy to get that fixed.
However, that seems like a separate issue from the first one where 142055553 cannot get past the multiple application screen. What I expect is hers to process like the other ones, and then she would be in the same boat as the others of needing to create a separate SB id.
Yes, I can’t help with the first issue.
I’m trying to help with the second issue.
@ShirleyHou I have switched those 2 youth and 2 adults back to ETAC and requested that new Scoutbook accounts be created for them in SHAC. Those 4 should be back on your roster tomorrow, after the overnight sync runs.
