I would like to have our Troop Guide and any scout over 1st Class to be able to sign off on lower rank requirements. Connections should be able to be made between youth for advancement signing.
Youth to Youth Connections are not available in the Legacy Scoutbook Platform.
There are no plans to update legacy Scoutbook to allow youth to sign off requirements. What I do is have an adult leader approve advancement in SB that was signed off by youth in another youth’s handbook. I then add a comment to the requirement saying “Signed off by Jane Doe”
There have been preliminary discussions on how this could be made work in Scoutbook Plus once advancement is moved there but no final decisions have been made. At this time we do not know if youth will be able to approve youth advancement in Scoutbook Plus.
Using the current software setup, a similar path to what Ed has described is to have the scouts themselves log their advancement completion either through the app or the website, and include either a note as described documenting who provided the signature, a photo of the signature page, or both. Then, the scouter who reviews it to mark it Leader Approved knows who actually signed off on it.
