@PaulMcDonald There is no need to wait. This has been available for a few months now; just use the hyperlink to get more of the details. Since the availability of this training tool seems to be a deep dark secret, I might include it in my next periodic Commissioner Technology Focus Group status report.
When they first rolled it out to the Scoutbook Champions we were told not to share. They then advised the Council execs about it as something to share and it sort of died there. Another reason to have a delimited type of technical service role.

Wow, here I was all excited that something is set up and then I went to that link. Itâs not ready for rolloutâthat page would just confuse all my unit leaders who need help.
Do we have a âgetting startedâ page or âhow-toâ docs? Training video? Welcome page?
Something that doesnât have a list of codes on a place to get started? Ultra-confusingâŠ

@PaulMcDonald Not to be funny, but did you even try the sandbox? It works (I used it) and is intuitive.
BTW, the Pp_ prefixes all refer to the âPreProductionâ environment that this is run in.
Hi Rick! I donât mean to be cruel and Iâm concerned that my words may be coming across that way. I did not try the sandbox because Iâm looking at this from the point of view of my unit leaders. If I give them this link, maybe 25% will even enter the link or click on it if I send it in an emailâthey will spend all of ten seconds on the page and then leave because itâs just too complex and uninformative of a start page.
They wonât try the sandbox either. To a non-tech-savvy typical unit leader, this doesnât work for a start page to learn how to use Scoutbook.
There are tons of getting started and help videos in the Help section all developed by volunteers who use the software so they are in English vs computerese. The sandbox is good for the users who want some hands on on how to do stuff watthour blowing up there units records.
@PaulMcDonald As posted by others, I think the Scoutbook on-line training is pretty decent. However, if you are trying to convince non-tech savvy folks to do something technical (gooood luck), perhaps you might want to suggest a local in-person training session or making Scoutbook the topic for one of your districtâs roundtabes?
Where is the Scoutbook online training? It may be fabulous.
When I suggested having in-person training, you told me it was beyond our scope and gave a link.
@PaulMcDonald The Scoutbook Help library (training) is available at Scoutbook.com (see the attached JPG). If you are going to do in person Scoutbook training I would recommend you get your councilâs Scoutbook Advocate / member of the Scoutbook User Advisory Council (assuming you have one) or one from a neighboring council to conduct the training.
That looks way better! Letâs lead with that link next time.
Councils have a âScoutbook Advocateâ ?? Iâm afraid to ask them who it might be out of fear theyâll appoint me.
LOL. Be careful what you ask for⊠Not all councils have a Scoutbook Advocate, but you can ask.
I have recently become our Councilsâ Scoutbook Champion and would also like to be added to the team if @BillNelson1 or @EdDavignon could include me as well.
I am trying to find out what access is potentially available for a volunteer to be able to get in and deal with user account and database side issues as I see a lot of them. I understand potential liability concerns, and am happy to go through whatever vetting process is required to be able to help lighten the Council load and support units in better using Scoutbook.
