I had assumed that when a Scout messages a unit leader through Scoutbook, his parent is automatically copied. Is that how it works, or have I misunderstood?
That is how it works. It enforces YPT rules by copying the parent(s). A nice feature of the un-official Scoutbook extension is that it defaults to listing who was copied at the bottom.
