Feature Request: Reports with Adventures for Current Rank

With the new cub program having themes with activities that can apply to multiple ranks (e.g. cycling, summertime fun, etc.), it would be nice to be able to have unit-level (pack) reports that show all Scouts and their status for their current rank-specific adventure of a specific theme (masks their status for former or future ranks).

Examples:

  1. It’s the end of summer and we want to see who has been marked complete for Summertime Fun (same requirements for all ranks) so we can ensure appropriate awards are purchased. Right now, we have to run five different reports (one per den, time-consuming) to get a useful report. Selecting the whole pack and every rank-level Summertime Fun adventure creates a report that is too difficult to parse.
  2. We want to plan a cycling activity that satisfies the requirements for Scouts across multiple dens. Again, we have to run five different reports to get somewhat useful reports (since we have to cross-check requirements). Selecting the whole pack and each rank-level cycling adventure creates a report that has too much data (e.g. we’re not interested in their requirements status for previous or future ranks).

@RyanTashma that is something you could make with Report Builder pretty easily

To run report builder, go to Reports → Custom Reports → New Report → New Custom Report (Report Bulder)

@DonovanMcNeil @edavignon

I should’ve been clearer. I’m aware of how to create custom reports–unless I’m having a conceptual error on how to create a single unit-wide report that is simple to parse. What I would like to do is create a single unit-wide report that only shows requirements applicable to each Scout’s current rank being worked on, I’d rather not have to run five or six separate reports. This is beyond the current capability of Report Builder.

For my example #1 above, this is the report that Report Builder currently generates if I were to try and run a single report for the entire 60+ member pack:

I don’t care about Summertime Fun (Tiger), Summertime Fun (Wolf), Summertime Fun (Bear), or Summertime Fun (Arrow of Light) for Scout #1; the pattern repeats for each Scout below. (As an aside, I didn’t select rank completion status, but that also displays whether I would like it to or not.)

The feature I’m asking for would be a reporting option to only show requirements status that are applicable to the current rank being worked on. For Summertime Fun (an adventure that has identical requirements), it would be great to have a single column but I recognize this might be quite challenging. For adventures that have dissimilar requirements, it could either have an option to group the report by sub-unit (probably the easiest) or have an option to blank the symbology for requirements not applicable to the current rank being worked on.

@RyanTashma

How would you propose such a report be formatted? Because Report Builder uses a grid, there will be an intersection between every Scout and every selected adventure requirement.
