Are there any plans in the future for Council Registrars to be able to upload and update merit badges for our merit badge counselors into Scout Book plus like we did in Legacy Scout book. Our Council uses a third party site to keep track of our merit badge counselors and what they counsel to make sure they are registered, SYT trained, and that their merit badges are approved by the district before the badges are entered into their profiles in my.scouting.org. It was so easy to generate a report from that system and upload it into Legacy Scout book. Having to enter that information one volunteer at a time is very time comsuming. Thank you
There are no plans to upload a file of MBC MB assignments. If a council desires this support, they will need to open a ticket with Scouting America IT Member Care to request it.
The registered and SYT statement confuse me (especially if you are paying for something) - as SB+ does that for you. ???
When an MBC’s registration or SYT expires, their connections to Scouts will be removed and they will no longer appear in search results. There is no need for a council to update MBs when this happens.
I am sorry for the confusion. When a merit badge counselor gets registered we make sure that that they are SYT trained. In the 3rd party site we created we also reverify that and have the district approve the badges before they are added into my.scoutng.org.
Merit Badges can added immediately via Registrar Tools now when the MBC is registered. There is no need to wait a day to do so as had to be done with Legacy Scoutbook.
I am sorry for the confusion, when we register MBC’s we make sure that they are SYT trained. But in the third party program we created we also verify this information and we have the district approve the badges the volunteer selects to counsel before that information is added to their my.scouting.org profie. In Legacy Scout book we do a mass upload of the badges they counsel, but I am unable to do that in Scout Bok plus. It is very time consuming to enter that information one person at a time. That was what I was inquiring about.

You can’t register any adult without SYT. My suggestion is to change the process. Get the district to approve the MBs first, then register the adult. At the time of registration, enter the MBs.
We don’t, the third party site just verifies the information in my.scouting.org it does not register them. I am sorry for the continued confusion.
Unless I’m missing something, the 3rd party site just seems like an extra step now.
We started it back when we used Scoutnet. We wanted to make sure that we had the most qualified volunteers to teach Scouts merit badges and since you cannot add qualifications for badges into my.scouting.org we created a third party site.
