Permission slip in SB+ using outdated language

Hey there,

I would like to request that the Permission Slips generated from Scoutbook and Scoutbook Plus be updated to use ONE version.

Current State:

  1. The Permission Slips generated from SB+ still reference “Boy Scouts” and “Boy Scouts of America” instead of Scouts BSA and Scouting America.
  2. I see that the permission slips generated from Legacy Scoutbook are using the correct language, however is also using language like “my son” and “he” (I am unclear if this language is dynamic on the form, and will populate based on the scout’s gender identity as recorded in their Scout record, but if it is hard coded on the form to read he / my son, then an update is needed)

Future/Requested State:

  1. Consistency: The same form version will generate, regardless of user using SB or SB+
  2. Brand: the form will reference Scouting America and will no longer reference “Boy Scouts” or “Boy Scouts of America"
  3. Gender: language to be updated to use gender-neutral terms (my child, the scout, etc) instead of using gender-specific, OR utilize the Scout’s gender marker to populate the from every time it is generated

Please ask your local council to submit a help ticket to National, because the form needs to be updated:

Activity Consent Form (Permission Slip):

The permission slip in SB+ should be replaced with the Annual Health and Medical Record, rather than updating the current form.

Our DE mentioned that the National office has consolidated the necessary forms into Part A of the medical record and has eliminated the Activity Consent Form. The National website also clearly states that AHMR is required for any and all Scouting activities (see Frequently Asked Questions Concerning the Annual Health and Medical Record | Scouting America ), but there’s no mention of the Activity Consent Form. Should I ask my council to submit a ticket to National to remove the ACF on https://www.scouting.org/resources/forms/?

I have heard nothing of that sort, and it doesn’t even make sense since part A hasn’t changed much in many years. We can’t get into program or safety discussions here. So, I can only suggest that your DE try to get a clarification from National.
