Unit Support in Scoutbook Plus

In the new Scoutbook Plus Permissions Manager function, it appears that a Unit Commissioner assigned to serve a unit cannot be assigned the new Unit Support role by the Unit Key 3 – unless the commissioner is also a registered member of that same unit (which is a whole other discussion…).

This is a change from legacy Scoutbook, where a Unit Commissioner could be granted Pack Admin or Troop Admin access to be able to better help a unit that they serve.

I understand and respect that the change is meant to honor the guidance of our charter organizations and the positions they approve; however, it is difficult to be the single, best resource without access to Scoutbook Plus.

I suppose that a workaround for units that want their unit commissioner to be able to help them by having access in Scoutbook Plus would be to multiple register that commissioner as a Unit Scouter Reserve in their unit, and then grant them the desired permissions.

Scouting America has decided that only individuals registered with the unit should be granted roles in the unit. Your options are to register with the unit or work with your Council staff to get a ticket opened to have this decision reconsidered.
