A Feature to Disable Payment Logs

For your consideration.

Our unit made the decision to stop using Scoutbook (and now SB+) to keep track of payments. As I understand it, we have no way of severing the old payment transactions. We have made adjustments to zero out all the logs, but it can be (and is) very confusing for most parents.

It would be great if unit leaders had the ability to disable or hide the payment logs completely and would save a fair amount of time explaining that we no longer use those logs.

Thank you, YiS

I asked the program manager about this and was told there are no plans to add a unit disable for Payment Log.

@BrianStockton my unit used QuickBooks - but we went in quarterly force updated totals for families in Payment logs - making it clear the total was not official.

Thank you, @edavignon, I understand that there are likely a great many other items with higher priorities than this one. Hopefully, however, this feature request will land on a list somewhere.

@DonovanMcNeil . we’ve used QuickBooks for over a decade as our accounting ‘source of truth’ and are in the early days of having discontinued the use of the SB payment logs. Figuring out the best way to communicate and update families is a constant balancing act but we continue to do the best we can. Quarterly reconciliation of payment logs may be a good option but, honestly, we would like to do away with them altogether.

Thank you for your reply and input!

@BrianStockton

It won’t be implemented. The developers have told me they are not going to add unit disables for various functions.

How unfortunate. :frowning: I understand the conditional issues involved with allowing others to disable functionality. It can break things in the most unexpected ways.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I truly do appreciate all the work the SUAC does!
