Add ability to add notes on awards without having a requirement completed

I’m trying to figure out a good method to add notes to NOA awards to track hours/miles/etc. Since there isn’t a built in method track these items on the events themselves, I would like the ability to mass post a note on the awards as a log entry to they can be periodically reviewed to see if the scouts meet the requirements.

For example, the troop goes on a canoe trip and every scout needs 20 hours logged. I would like the ability to go to quick entry → Awards → NOA Aquatics. Enter a date, select all of the attendees (this can be 40+ for our unit), then enter a note that says they all did 20 hours (which is short of the requirement, but need a place to log it). No requirements are checked off. This would then add a note on that award.

In SB, you can follow the process outlined above and hit submit right now. It will look like it is doing a lot of work, but the note does not get posted. No errors are generated saying that nothing happened.

@PeterBurdine- if a note is posted on a request it will display a notepad icon under the req

You can use the award quick entry to post that note on the requirement for several scouts at once.

That only seems to work if there is a requirement that checked off/completed. If you want to post a note that lists the progress (hours or miles for example), you cannot bulk add notes.

@PeterBurdine- the example I posted above has nothing checked off or completed.

Update - this was in scoutbook classic. I see what you are noting in scoutbook Plus

@PeterBurdine I guess I do not understand - I just added a note to Req #1 of this Award with nothing marked - you just click ADD COMMENT

@PeterBurdine- is this what you are referring to:

The apply is grayed out

Does selecting the grey comments icon shown in @DonovanMcNeil ‘s example not open the comments only window for you as shown below? I have been able to select the icon, opening the window, and post a comment without the need to approve or submit an update to the advancement/award itself.

@LaddKettren

Click the Add Comment button just below the red arrow in Donovan’s post above.

@edavignon yes, my post was not a question about how. I was directing that at the original author asking if they see the comments window when they click the icon that @DonovanMcNeil pointed out in his example.

Sorry for any confusion I’ve added.
