Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
We are putting in placeholder events for the Troop calendar for the entire year, based on what we decided in our annual planning, but the “all day event” checkbox is not staying checked:
I click the checkbox, and the start/end time dropdowns change to “all day” and are disabled
I click “save event”, and it saves it (dropdowns stay disabled w/ “all day”
Click the “← back to event” button
The event/screen now has 12:00AM - 11:45PM as the Start/End date values, and the same is displayed when I click “Edit Event”. It’s also showing as a big, long block in my (synced) calendar.
I have tried various things, like assigning one person to the event, adding a campout night, but it always reverts the “all day event” checkbox to a 12:00-11:45 event time.
Thank you for looking into it. Normally, we will change our events to have specific times (e.g. meeting time to depart for the campout, start/stop of the service project, etc.) when we finalize them, but I thought I remembered the “all day” blocks when we have done our initial calendar planning in the past.
It also seems odd that if you select the checkbox and it changes the dropdowns (disables, and sets them to “all day”) that when you come back to the same event (form) it should not change things (i.e. enables the checkbox, changes values to something else).
I just tried making it a 2-day and a 3-day event, and in all cases it still reverts to an unselected checkbox and 12:00-11:45 time frame. This is the test event I created, but maybe I’m doing something different than you to prevent it from staying selected: Internet Advancement
That is the way all day events work in the Scoutbook calendar. We can request a change to work more like Google calendar but I can tell you this won’t be looked at until sometime after legacy Scoutbook is completely retired.
Hmm, ok, yes, that would be a nice change to make; as I said, it just seemed odd that after submitting it would change form fields. And once we actually have things finalized (e.g. campout location), we change it from an “all day” block to have specific start/stop times. I can’t think of any examples from our calendar where would keep an “all day” event on the calendar, but we could use it for reminders like when summer camp deposits are due.
