I generally can handle Scoutbook, but today I’m having a heck of a time. I can’t select a den to assign a kid so I can’t add any new kids, and I can’t change dens of current kids. I see there’s a maintenance session this afternoon- could that be why I am entirely stuck at the moment?

Likely the case. I can’t currently log in to Scoutbook at all (I just get a spinner).
