Eagle application auto-filled fields no longer auto-sizing; getting cut off

As with @FrankSplain and @GanttEdmiston, I’ve also noticed that the fonts no longer auto-resize on the Eagle applications downloaded from SB+. This primarily affects the contact info (phone, address, e-mail) in the reference section, including parent contact info. The font has also changed from san-serif to a strange serif font that’s difficult to read due to inconsistent spacing. Older Eagle applications downloaded in February 2026 or earlier still display correctly, with an auto-resizing sans-serif font, suggesting there has been a change in how SB+ is generating the .pdfs.

I tried viewing one such newly-downloaded Eagle application .pdf in about 20 different platforms on my Windows PC, including various browsers, extensions, apps, and online viewers. Out of all, I found only ONE which auto-resized the form field fonts: Small PDF online, likely because it simply ignores the embedded font settings for those fields. I’ll use this option for now, and will recommended it to others in our council, but it would be nice if I could also pass along that this is a known issue and that a fix is on the way…

OP:

I am seeing the same thing. This is eagle version 2022 due to Citizenship in Society being counted, generated in Chrome and viewed with the “real” adobe reader.

It looks like the Scout email auto sizes, but the parent name, address, phone, and email don’t. The troop numbers do and it looks like the optional badges do.

Yes, I know - I emailed advancement.team@scouting.org the first week of March. After at least two reminders, they replied that a future update would fix it. Clearly that hasn’t happened.

Feel free to email them with your excellent observations as well.

KNOW there are actually TWO unique ESRA pdf forms. The generic form that is blank:
BLANK ESRA

And the version that auto-populates the Scout information and advancement that you generate through Scoutbook Plus.

BOTH have this font issue.
BOTH also have horrible tab-order. “Tab-order” is where the cursor moves, from field-to-field, when you tap the tab key.

This is a known issue.

Watch Scoutbook Plus Change Log - Scouting Forums for an announcement of a fix.

Thank you - looking forward to the new form to be generated out of scoutbookPlus that lets us put in references using the fill-in PDF.
