Request: Would like ability to add both PDF and PNG files extensions to the comment logs under Advancement and Awards,
Justification: The current comment log permits only a limited number of file format extensions and leaves to common, day-to-day fields: PDF and PNG. This is causing users to have to take screenshots and resave files to accepted formats (e.g., JPG). For example, a MB counselor sends a electronic file of a MB completed by a scouts and the file format is many times a PDF. If we want to add this to the MB advancement record we have to take screenshots of the merit badge parts of the PDF and then save those and upload them individually. And even then the format saved must conform. We do nto have an issue with JPG but PNG has moved from a little used graphic format to the stanardard save as format in most applications today (e.g., Techsmith SnagIt).
What is also interesting is that on the video side, all the common video formats can be used.
The irony seems to be that a PNG file can be uploaded to the FR request log.
