Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
A Scouter asked me to give him a list of all positions and years for another scouter.I went under the profileand see the scouterscurrent Troop position.
The scouter has multiple councils and Troop, as well as positions.
However, none of that is reflected in their profile.
The official position that has been presented (via SUAC volunteers) in the past is that Scoutbook and SB+ are not intended to serve as a complete record of prior positions and roles for scouters. That makes it hard for those of us who are trying to pull together service awards and so forth, but that’s kinda where we are. It’s another “lobby via the council” sort of issue that I haven’t seen get much traction, although understandably so since there would be significant cost in modifying the software to accept those inputs, then cost associated with trying to consolidate and transfer all of the records into something that SB/SB+ could “read”.
@JohnSagami - that is tough one. If the scouter was in units that used scoutbook prior to Scouting America purchase and until recently positions had little to no verification from the primary member database. That makes any of those records unreliable. Council(s) may have a record of changes in position and tenure… but that may well be a challenge as well. I would contact the respective council registrars.
@JohnSagami - what is with the attitude. There is no report to run and I suggested that reaching out to the respective councils may provide some information. The purchase was in 2015 and I manned the scoutbook booth at the national annual meeting.
@JohnSagami it is not the simplest of answers.
In Legacy all past positions that where in SB were shown - BUT they were all essentially fake as any position could be placed in the record.
With SB+ - it only focuses on the current position, as that is the only one that matters and is needed to accomplish tasks.
So in past you could kind of see past positions, but you could not rely on the accuracy of them. Some data might be able to be pulled by a council, if they would take the time to do it (or if it is worth their time) is a different matter.
If you are Key 3 or a Key 3 delegate in a unit this Scouter is registered in, then you can run a person profile by going to the roster in My Scouting by choosing to print the Unit Advancement Details Report for that Scouter. If the member numbers are connected, that may get you the full profile. Otherwise, it may be limited to just the one council’s records.
