Our troop is presently collecting dues from its members for the current program year. Some of our Scouts have credits recorded in their payment logs from previous payments made outside of Scoutbook Plus that reduce the balance due below the charge for this year’s dues. However, when such a Scout’s parent clicks the Pay button next to a charge, she only has the option of paying the full amount charged, not the lesser balance presently due.
Is there any way for a parent to remit a partial payment via Scoutbook Plus?
The only solution that occurs to me thus far is the rather tedious task of manually editing the charge for dues for each such Scout, reducing it to the present balance due, and then editing it again once the charge is paid, increasing it back to the full amount so that the balance due comes to zero. Is there a simpler, less time-consuming solution?
Please find below for your reference a screenshot of one such payment log:
@Bagheera - there is currently no method to just pay the balance due. The stripe integration is a transaction setup. You would either do manual payment or enter it as a net transaction
The ability to remit a partial payment would be a desirable feature to add in the future, as would the ability to delete an online payment that has been initiated, but not submitted.
Yes SUAC has mentioned all kinds of issues around the current process to Staff.
@Stephen_Hornak, by “enter it as a net transaction,” I understand you to mean simply recording another charge in the payment log equal to the balance due. However, I do not understand what you mean by “do manual payment.” Is there a way for an end user to initiate a payment within Scoutbook without clicking the Pay button next to a charge recorded in a payment log? Or do you mean that payment should be made outside of Scoutbook and then merely manually recorded?
@Bagheera - a net transaction would be thus: they owe 250 but have a 30 credit balance the transaction entered would be for 220. Manual payment is outside of Scoutbook and entered as that payment amount.
