Importing merit badge data from Heritage summer camp into Scoutbook

Hello, I am the advancement chair for our troop and am attempting to import into Scoutbook a Scoutbook_Export(6).csv file that was sent by our Troop’s Committee Chair to me from Heritage summer camp. I have attempted the upload by using both Firefox and Chrome extensions; have looked for a selection titled “Council Merit Badge and Requirements Import” in Scoutbook Legacy and Scoutbook Plus under Administration; and have attempted to import the csv file in Scoutbook Plus by clicking on Roster, Advancements, Import File. Nothing has worked.

On a different note, it almost appears that I may not have the ability to perform this upload per the item copied below from help.scoutbook.scouting.org (although I recall doing this after last year’s summer camp).

Thank you for any help with this. Sincerely, Tobey Trumbull

Upload File & Print Report for Scout Shop in Scoutbook Plus (for those using a 3rd party tool to track advancements)

Q. How do I upload a file from a 3rd party application to Scoutbook Plus and produce a report to bring to the Scout Shop to purchase advancements?

Any registered adult leader can log into SB +. However, to import you need the following positions…

  • Chartered Organization Rep.
  • COR/CUR Delegate
  • Council Unit Representative
    Committee Chair
  • Cubmaster
  • Scoutmaster
  • Venturing Crew Advisor

@TobeyTrumbull - here are the instructions

Thank you, but Scoutbook Plus specifically states that it does not accept imports from Blackpug.

Also, our Troop does not use Scouting Event to record advancement. We use Scoutbook Plus and sometimes rely on Scoutbook Legacy. I am not aware of what National Capital Area Council uses or does not use. Are you suggesting that someone at NCAC be contacted about this situation?

There must be a simpler way to handle this, such as a Firefox or Chrome extension that can work with the file sent from Heritage camp that is labelled Scoutbook_Export(6).csv.

@TobeyTrumbull - did you read the help page?? The camp if it is Heritage uses black pug which is that csv file you have. In scoutbook plus in the left is a link for legacy scoutbook. Click on that and you must be in chrome doing this. If you are in legacy click on your unit and if the extension is installed there will be a menu item to import merit badges

@TobeyTrumbull - I trust that all completed and partial merit badges are in the scout record now

Yes, thank you so much. The help today from Scouting Forum provided the answers that met the questions I had. And I should add that, just like today, every time in the past I’ve contacted the Forum, I’ve always been helped with the right answers to issues regarding Scoutbook. Many thanks to you again for help today and to everyone who responds to questions posted on Forum.
