JTE - District and Council discontinued for 2020 and 2021

Per a council Scouting Executive (8 September 2020)

Journey to Excellence Update
Scouting’s Journey to Excellence (JTE) is the BSA’s planning, performance and recognition program designed to encourage and reward the success of our units, districts, and councils. It is meant to encourage excellence in providing a quality program at all levels of the BSA.

The BSA recognizes that given the extraordinary circumstances occurring in 2020, benchmarking 2019 to 2020 and 2021 to 2020 is not constructive, therefore, effective immediately, the Journey to Excellence recognition program for Districts and Councils will be discontinued for 2020 and 2021 .

The Journey to Excellence Unit recognition program will continue.

The JTE data is valuable information, and to assist with membership data analysis in the future, a new membership reporting tool is under development. This tool will provide councils and districts with key membership data, including gender and ethnic diversity. Stay tuned for details about the rollout of the new tool.

2021 unit scorecards are available at https://www.scouting.org/awards/journey-to-excellence/unit/.

  • Council and District Recognition Council and District dashboards will not be available after September 18. If a council would like any data from the dashboard, they should gather it prior to that date.

Council accounting staff will still need to submit month-end data using the LC Month-end GL Transmittal as this is still needed for other financial reporting.

  • Camping Report
As previously announced, effective August 24, 2020, the national camping data collection process will be discontinued. Known as the “camping report,” this data collection will no longer take place at the national level. The data that is now collected via the NCAP Intent to Operate submission process will be sufficient for national level reporting needs. Councils should continue to track the camping data and statistics that is relevant for their council operations and to support their units.

my.Scouting legacy tool “Journey to Excellence” discontinued

This tool was removed from service a little after 11am PDT, Friday, September 18th, 2020. Multiple year district and council JTE reports (2017-Aug 2020) are no longer available to commissioners and district members at large.

Anyone know which reports district committees and district unit service staff should now be receiving from their council?

Current reports appear to be those available in commissioner tools available to district commissioners and activity log summary report(s) available to council professionals.
