I have a counselor (ID 132406442) working with 9 Scouts. She is no longer able to see the Scouts on either her phone or her desktop. On the Scout master side for both troops, everything looks fine. She keeps getting a 403 error for the last few weeks.
Here are the ID numbers of 4 Scouts she is assigned from 2 Troops:
Girl Troop
136625952
136626035
Boy Troop
13594431
14789971
Please help me resolve this.
Thank you.
@JeffreyMartin7 and they are under the MBC profile in the top right corner? Have them try an Incognito window. Or with a 403 are they using a VPN?
Yes, she is in the MBC profile. She has 9 profiles. She has 5 boys, 2 units, 1 MBC, and a new Explorer Club profile.
We opened an incognito window.
She now gets “Error. Your position(s) and related permissions do not allow you to perform this action.”
I had her keep clearing the errors. Some times Scout names she is counseling would appear briefly, but then disappear. We were finally able to update one Scout, but not the other.
She is working on a Mac desktop.
@JeffreyMartin7 - is she working in safari ?
Yes, she is working in Safari.
@JeffreyMartin7
It would be best if the MBC came to the forums so we can ask questions directly.
She doesn’t have time to deal with the Forums. She is working in Scoutbook as a favor to me. If I can’t resolve her problem she is either going back to Blue Cards or will stop being a merit badge counselor. I have been on the adult side of Scouting for over 50 years. She is one of my best merit badge counselors ever. I would hate to loser her over all the issues we are having.
We are having so many unresolved problems with Scoutbook we have actually formed a subcommittee to look into other options. I am the only person able to resolve Scoutbook problems for others in our units. I can’t resolve all of the issues. As a large scale database manager by trade, I am getting very frustrated by the poor implementation, removal of features, and poor response time repairing broken enhancements.
We are not supporting our volunteers as we should be. Yes, I am frustrated.
@JeffreyMartin7 - I would suggest chrome or Firefox. Beyond that what are these many unresolved issues ?
@JeffreyMartin7
Since she is not willing to come to the forums, we will need you to describe the process she is using when she is getting the errors. A video would be ideal.
Is she using Quick Entry or trying to get to the MBs one by one? Is she trying to enter comments? What MBs and what reqs is she trying to complete?
@JeffreyMartin7
I see potentially 4 Scoutbook accounts and 2 my.scouting.org IDs for her. Because the DOBs are different (2 have default DOBs, one appears to belong to one of her children), I can’t be sure. We are going to need to work directly with her to confirm these multiple IDs and clean them up.
@JeffreyMartin7
I was able to clean up her accounts. She needs to continue logging in with the my.scouting.org ID that starts with L. I removed the old my.scouting.org ID that started with J.
The developers were able to cause the 403 error. They are investigating the root cause. Watch Scoutbook - Scoutbook Plus Change Log - Scouting Forums for an announcement of a fix.
I, too, am having this issue. I am a registered MBC, but I cannot see a list of Scouts I have been counseling.
I was previously a Unit Key 3 Delegate as the Advancement Coordinator, but I stepped down from this position in January. Since then, I recognize nothing in ScoutbookPlus.
I see a post about an update yesterday that supposedly solved this issue, but I’m still getting a 403 error.
I have spoken with our registrar at our Council Office to help troubleshoot the problem, but we’ve been on the phone for a while now and have not been able to resolve the issue.
is there any resolution, that works. i am having the same issue, was part of the initial trial of Scoutbook, and can not believe it has devolved into such an unusable mess. it is shear luck if even one Scouter in your group can force updates, a near impossible task with a troop of 90 active scouts. why is there NO practice of quality assurance performed before rolling out changes.
and why is noone responsible for fixing this.
a most dissatisfied Merit Badge Counselor/Scouter
@AlanHarrison are you in the MBC Profile top right? Are you clicking MBC Dashboard?
I do not see anything labeled “MBC Dashboard.” Walk me through how to get there.
Is it in ScoutbookPlus or My.Scouting?
@AlanHarrison in top right corner - click the dropdown and make sure it is set to MBC. In Scoutbook+
Thank you. The Registrar read this instruction to me over the phone, but we did not know where to find it.
This is definitely not how I accessed it in January
It has been that way since the beginning of SB+ - which was way before January
Maybe I was accessing it differently because of my role as Key 3 Delegate and Advancement Coordinator?
I have served as MBC for many years, used SB, IA, and SB+ since before they became the official avenue of reporting advancement, and I have never seen that pull down option
