I am council admin for Scout Book and I need to update the merit badge counselor list in Scout Book since we have completed annual mbc renewals. I have gotten the two reports from Scoutnet, merged them together and uploaded the .csv file on scoutbook.com. Once the upload has been verified it says 458 counselors added and 0 removed. I can’t figure out how that could be correct because the last time I uploaded the list I had 697 counselors. So, if we only have 458 registered counselors now shouldn’t scout book be removing 239 counselors from the list since they are no longer approved? Every other time I have done this there have been counselors that Scout Book removed so I am concerned that something is not working correctly.

Wouldn’t you have 1155 MBCs (458+697) presently?

No, all merit badge counselors expire on 12/31/2019 in ScoutNet leaving you with 0. 458 of them returned and were re-registered. The updated scout book list should contain 458 merit badge counselors and it should remove the people who did not re-register which should be 239.

In that case, I think you started with zero. To have added 458 when you only uploaded 458, the starting point must have been zero somehow. Did you perhaps take a couple attempts to get it uploaded?

Well, I clicked “download the current .csv file” before doing anything else and that is where I got the 697 number from. After that I ran the new file through the verification process to see what errors I might have and that is when it said 458 new and 0 removed. I have not officially uploaded the file (clicked process) yet because I am afraid it is not going to remove people that are not registered anymore. Maybe I just need to bite the bullet and hope that it works correctly despite looking like it’s not going to…

So, it does say “0 counselors” now under the file download link but when I actually click that and open the file it downloads there are 692 people in that file… not 0 (which is the out-of-date file.)
