According to the list I have, Illowa Council has never uploaded its MBC list.
but i think our list is older than his date @edavignon
Todd
Where are you seeing this expire date? The only date shown in Scoutbook is the date YPT expires.
That looks like your council uploaded the MBC list after our list of last upload Sm dates was generated. You will need to contact your council to find out why your MBC position was ended.
Thank you. Everyone that I check who were MBCs in my Troop are expired on the same day, 3/23/2020. It just looks like a system issue because itâs the day after the system update.
Could this be related to the problem I heard about that ScoutBook was terminating counselors and creating a new instance of them under some error condition? I donât have details, just the rumor.
Greg
March 23 would have been the date your council uploaded their list. If this was a unit roster position, they were all ended the day the council did its first upload. MBCs would then see the council uploaded position on their MY Positions screen but would not appear on a unit roster. Do these MBCs appear if you do a MB Coh selfie search from the unit page?
My understanding is that MBCs are district positions per the BSA registration guidebook. I assume you are discussing the âavailability to the unit onlyâ after the council list is uploaded to Scoutbook.
Am I correct that Scoutbook makes different lists available to the Scoutmaster of different units?
Bill
We have discussed this in the past. Scoutbook allows MBCs to set their listing preference to unit(s), district(s), council president worldwide (council uploaded lists only)
I am receiving the following error message when trying to update my MB list. What does this mean?
Whoops! We encountered an error trying to process your request.
Our webmaster has been notified and will fix it ASAP!
Iâm receiving the same âWhoopsâ message that ElaineMason reports, for any updates related to MBC position that I try to do for me or other adults in my unit (I am Key 3 & Troop Admin).
Yes, this is a bug. The bug has been reported to the developers.
We are having problems in Indian Nations Council too. Besides Council office closure they have lost people due to budget cut and no one left seems to know how to fix this. I have tried to explain about the need to load from council, but they keep saying it is a district level problem or something else, everything EXCEPT doing ScoutBook maintenance. I conduct ScoutBook user training in the council so they look to me as an expert - but honestly I only know what I dig out of these forums, help videos, a lot of trial and error (lol), but I am not at all knowledgeable about what ScoutBook has or what needs to be done above the unit level. Where do these folks go go get trained? And back to the first point - how do we get this MBC fiasco fixed?
Judy,
Your council last uploaded an MBC list to Scoutbook on May 5.
And they are all reading expired May 4th - so I gotta figure something didnât work with the upload. Thanks.
Judy,
Are these the MBC positions on your troop roster? When the council uploads the MBC list, all MBCs are removed from troop rosters. Individual MBCs will still see their position under My Dashboard â Administration â My Account â My Positions.
Troops can search for them by going to MB Counselor Search on the troop page.
They WERE on the troop roster until that upload. But until then, the council hadnât taken over loading the list, so I still had control at the unit level. I added Merit Badge Counselors as a membership position, listed for which badges the MBC had applied (and been approved of course). Now after the council load I canât do a thing. Even trying to add a new MBC results in a message telling me that it is something that can only be done at the council level. On the one hand that is great. I always hated that not everyone input their counselors, meaning if I did a search because we didnât have a counselor in the troop, they didnât show up in ScoutBook and I was on the phone calling around searching for someone. On the other hand - with the council so short handed, I am concerned about how timely and accurately the list will be maintained control is locked to Council level. They have a lot on their plate and few people to keep up with that workload. Not sure this will be a priority. But - got to get this bug fixed first - then I can see what I can do to offer assistance to keep things smooth in the future.
Judy,
Once a council uploads its MBC list, units can no longer add or change MBC positions. It is all under control of the council.
The latest fixes are in final test and will be released soon.
Let me add another âwrinkleâ into the dilemma. Remember I said that the Council reps were insisting it was a District problem (that somehow the district had not loaded the MBC list during recharter - our DE swears he did)? I am also a district commissioner so along with the council folks we took a peek into my.scouting member manager for the district and MBC was not even listed as a position. All the folks that were MBCâs were no longer listed. So a few phone calls by council to various folks and that list got reloaded. Now all the names are showing back up in my.scouting as MBC. But of course that just means they have those as registered positions. It doesnât designate for which merit badges they are approved. So let me guess - this is probably why the council load failed in may - (because we werenât showing any registered MBCâs). And now that we have registered MBCâs I have to convince the council that SOMEONE has to reload that list from council level again - if we can figure out who did it the first time and how. Does that sound about right?
