I am trying to enter the National Medal for Outdoor Achievement for a Scout, however I receive the error message “This requirement should not be updated.” I was told that the medal was available to be earned through 12/31/25, why should the requirement not be updated? I am using Scoutbook Plus on Google Chrome.

This is a different award entirely, this relates to the National Medal for Outdoor Achievement. It is a different award and a different error received.
I was able to add this on our test system. Where are you seeing the error? What is the Scout’s Scouting America Member ID (no names)?
Member ID 131830944. The error comes after after hitting “apply”, then a confirmation pop up comes. When “Submit” is depressed on the pop up, an error code box pops us with “Error This requirement should not be updated.” I have tried selecting all the requirements, and also only selecting those which apply to him (he is a BSA Scout), and both return the same error message.
There is no submit button in Scoutbook Plus. Where are you doing this?

First guess is Req one cannot be entered - it is self recording
When I tried to approve the individual requirements using the Scout’s Awards page, I received the same error. I then tried to enter approval for the entire award directly, and I was able to successfully enter the information that way. I confirmed it is now showing in the Scouts earned awards. What I recall on this medal (as it is not listed in Awards Central and therefore not supposed to be in Scoutbook) - they were no longer making the medals as they were not being earned - so they were just selling off the old stock of them.
I had a Scout who had been working on this for years and when I read the medal had been “discontinued”, I had a discussion with National on it (I could find the names if needed, but it has been a while). They reconsidered and added the medal back to Scoutbook which allowed people currently working on the medal to complete it by 12/31/25. They removed it from the sites because they did not want people to start working on because it has been officially discontinued, however last I heard, they still had medals available for those who complete the requirements by 12/31/25, when I was told the medal would be officially retired, and no longer eligible to be reported as earned. There has historically been only about 25 Scouts a year who earn this one, but a tremendous amount of work goes into it so we wanted to make sure the Scout was recognized for his work. if done - just go to scout > awards > enter a final date - or use the individual award page to enter stuff

Were you able to get out of National how many of the NOAA medals have been awarded? There seems to be no source for that info. I tried to find out when My son got it.

I did not ask how many received it. It was published several times in the past, most recently 2 years ago, so I think that is the best info we are going to get (at that time, it was published that approx 300 had ever earned the award since 2010 when it was initiated). Here is the relevant portion of the email I received regarding the program discontinuation. It seems the medals will be available for those who had already begun it, but they do not want to encourage those who have not yet started it to do so.
In the sunsetting of the National Medal for Outdoor achievement we realize that there were some Scouts that were already working towards this award. If the Scout had already actively started the award prior to December 31, 2024, they have until December 31, 2025, to complete the award. Scouting America Outfitters (formerly known as National Supply) has agreed that the medal will be listed as discontinued status, but a store manager can order the award until December 31, 2025. The SKU for the medal is 662983
I was honestly most interested in making sure the Scout who did all the work would be able to be recognized for the achievement. I can confirm I was able to receive the medal using the instructions I just provided by National, so at the time I ordered, there were medals still available.
