No option to add Paypal to troop

I’m trying to follow the instructions for adding Paypal to our troop so we can accept payments but in the “edit troop” page, there is no “enable paypal” switch like in the picture. I’m the Scoutmaster so I would think I would have the necessary permissions.

I see recent posts about accepting payments so the feature still seems to exist but I just can’t find it. Is the ability to add PayPal disabled as part of the Scoutbook+ migration?

@WilliamDonkervoet in Legacy Scoutbook (scoutbook.scouting.org) go to unit in Top right and click the unit > then Edit Unit - do you not see this Toggle?

No, it’s not there.

it MIGHT be that council does not allow it - I will have to check on that

@WilliamDonkervoet yes Council Admins can just turn the feature off for all units. So I guess yours choice to do that.

I do ALWAYS advise units NOT to use Paypal. I know first hand several that Paypal has flat out stolen thousands of dollars from, as the transactions looked like laundering, and the units had no recourse at all.

My troop had been using SOAR for years and I always thought it was a pain to maintain both SOAR and Scoutbook so I’m trying to use Scoutbook exclusively. It’s very convenient to be able to create bills, link them to events, and have the parents pay there.

My old pack had used Square and just created payment links for everything but that’s not tied to the event in any way and it seems like more work since it’s not integrated.

Since PayPal is integrated with Scoutbook, it seems like the ideal option. What do you suggest?

My units use Stripe - as it is from one bank account to another - it is not money just sitting in a 3rd party account like paypal, deposits go straight into the bank account.
