As registrations are increasingly being done online and with the new 12-month membership for new scouts and scouters, the timing of registration now affects the cost more in my mind. Today, August 30th, someone signed up and was charged for the entire month of August, with their membership expiring in July 2024. Essentially, they paid for a month of membership with only two days remaining.
I understand that this issue isn’t new. However, it appears to be more pronounced now that we are stating that you need to pay for 12 months continuously, but in reality, that is not always the case. Has there been a consideration of implementing a rounding logic?
- If you pay on or before the 15th of the month, membership starts effective the 1st of the current month.
- If you pay after the 15th of the month, you get the remainder of the current month free and then pay for the next 12 months.
The alternative is just to set 12 months based on your actual signup date but know that would probably break these systems
